A Creepy Shift in Atmosphere

This project is the second version of A Shift in Atmosphere, revisiting the same environment through a darker, more dreamlike lens. Rather than changing the space itself, the focus was on transforming its emotional identity through lighting, composition, and subtle environmental details. The result is a familiar place that feels mysterious, unsettling, and open to interpretation.

The entire environment was modeled, textured, and assembled in 3ds Max as an exploration of visual storytelling and mood creation. This project demonstrates how a single environment can communicate entirely different narratives simply by reimagining its atmosphere, without the need for characters or dialogue.
Like the original version, this piece was created as part of my submission for The Rookies 2026, representing both a technical and artistic challenge in environment creation.
Developing two contrasting versions of the same scene has been an incredibly rewarding experience, reinforcing how powerful atmosphere can be as a storytelling tool. I'm looking forward to applying everything I've learned to future environments and continuing to grow as an artist.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work!!
